Kaldi’s Call for Mentors - Hosts Benefit for UrbanFUTURE
Organization Needs 200 Volunteers for Literacy Program
in St. Louis City Schools
ST. LOUIS, MO, June 29, 2007 — This fall, UrbanFUTURE
will double the number of St. Louis City middle and elementary
students that will participate in its literacy and character
development program and Kaldi’s Coffee has stepped
up to help recruit 200 volunteer mentors and tutors.
Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th, from 6:00 AM
to 10:00 pm, Kaldi’s Coffee will host a fundraiser
and mentor recruitment event at the company’s Kirkwood
and Chesterfield locations, inviting customers to learn about
UrbanFUTURE, one of St. Louis’ most effective literacy
programs for youth. In addition to donating a portion of
daily sales to UrbanFUTURE, Kaldi’s will offer a free
cookie with any donation of a dollar or more, a free cup
of coffee for registering to receive more information, and
a $50 Kaldi’s gift certificate for anyone who becomes
an UrbanFUTURE volunteer.
UrbanFUTURE, in partnership with family, school and community,
is dedicated to the success of urban youth through character
growth, academic achievement and career preparation. The
One on One INSPIRE program implements a team model of mentoring
including the student’s parent or guardian, a mentor
from the community, and a teacher who work together on behalf
of the student. The team creates an environment designed
to maximize the student’s potential for success both
in and out of the classroom.
Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Company specializes in Fair
Trade and Organic-Certified coffee. The Kaldi’s in
Kirkwood is located at 120 S. Kirkwood Rd., Kirkwood, MO
63122, and in Chesterfield at Chesterfield Commons Village,
17211 Chesterfield Airport Rd., Chesterfield, MO 63005.
