UrbanFUTURE Adds Four New Board
Members
Grows Operations into Second St. Louis City Public
School
Frank Van Bree, president of the supplementary education
organization UrbanFUTURE, has announced four (4) new board
members to its roster.
Stephen Johnson, VP Operations, Walgreens; Mark Light, Counsel,
Executive Management, The Boeing Company; Mark Lindgren,
VP Corporate Human Resources, Ameren; and Philesa White,
VP Human Resources, MERS/Goodwill.
Board expansion comes at a time when UrbanFUTURE, one of
St. Louis’ most effective literacy and character education
programs, grows its services into Mann Elementary School
and doubles the number of students who are registered in
the program. The extension into Mann, a feeder school for
the other UrbanFUTURE school Fanning Middle, means that now
UrbanFUTURE programs are a significant contributor to the
continuum of public school education in the South Grand neighborhood.
“Our goal has been to focus on the kids in this vibrant
South Grand neighborhood, said Van Bree. “We’re
providing the low-income kids that live around here, through
hard work and dedication to learning, the freedom to become
part of the economic success and revitalization of this great
St. Louis neighborhood.”
UrbanFUTURE is a “connector” of the family,
school and community in impoverished urban areas providing
mentoring, tutoring and career preparation programs to help
youth see and believe in their possibilities. Visit www.urbanfuturestl.org
