The Restoration™ Movement
UrbanFUTURE's programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of the students, families and schools.
Restoration Programs
UrbanFUTURE's key initiative is the Restoration Model. The model seeks to restore the traditional bonds between home, school and community that poverty has broken. UrbanFUTURE believes that the restoration of these bonds is essential for student success. Restoration is dedicated to the alignment of three environments: family, school and community. Since education is the presumed "pathway to success," UrbanFUTURE works within the walls of the educational institution (public, private or charter) to offer students a seamless integration between core and supplemental services.
The ultimate vision for Restoration programming is that students have a much clearer sense of where they are headed during their high school years and beyond. Its primary objective is to ensure that students participating in the five year continuum (4th through 8th grade) possess the academic acumen to master high school as well as the mindset to see and believe in their possibilities.
In addition, it is the goal of UF staff and volunteers to ensure that students:
- Read at grade level
- Have an engaged parent or guardian
- Have mastered the art of goal setting
- Have practical experience in a vibrant character education program
The five key outcomes Restoration focuses on in order to achieve UF's vision are:
Parent Leadership
Academic Growth
Literacy
Character Formation
Job Readiness
To accomplish these outcomes Restoration is comprised of three key programs: One on One INSPIRE™ Mentoring, IMPACT™ Tutoring and Explore!™ career preparation. They function together as a supplemental educational experience that operates during the school year and the summer.

One on One INSPIRE™ Mentoring implements a team mentoring model comprised of a student's parent or guardian, a mentor volunteer from the community and a school teacher, all working together to maximize each student's potential for success in and out of the classroom.
Mentors are volunteers from the St. Louis community and focus on literacy, goal setting and character development with their student. The parent is considered the team leader and is encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education. Learn more about One on One INSPIRE™ Mentoring here.

IMPACT™ Tutoring is SES certified with the State of Missouri and offers students individualized academic assistance in math and communication arts. Volunteer tutors work with teachers to create plans that supplement the classroom learning. Students meet with volunteer tutors at least once a week to improve their grades and test scores. Learn more about IMPACT™ Tutoring here.

Explore!™ offers students the opportunity to learn about their St. Louis community and various career options. UF collaborates with the community to bring quality enrichment programs to students. Learn more about Explore!™ here.
